The Radical Sex and Gender Education for Youth by Eriko Yamatani, a legislator of Japanese Diet from the New Conservative Party

Ms. Yamatani stated that a free and amoral sex culture is currently rampant among young children because of radical forms of sex and gender education in Japan, and pointed out the danger of present Japanese education.

Quoting statistics from the Office of Police Headquarters she pointed out the danger of this system. According to these statistics, 68% of young people think they are free to have sex with an unknown person, and 45% of them think prostitution is a matter of choice. In addition, one out of thirteen nineteen-year-old girls has a sexually transmitted didease (*"such as chlamydia"), and uterine cancer among women in their twenties is rapidly increasing (four times as much as before). She said it is because we do not teach children a basic system of values and she is worried that the majority of young people has been led astray.

She also stated that "goods such as those seen at adult-shops were found at Nanao School, when the politicians and bureaucrats of the Tokyo Prefecture went to observe classes" and "it is obviously beyond the realm of the compulsory school education to teach children how to use a condom using dolls with genitals."

She said that Governor Ishihara decided to investigate every school, and that Prime Minister Koizumi, as well as other members of the Cabinet, have approved the necessity of an investigation of the overall situation. She emphasized that in the last 10 years, sex and gender education has become extremely offensive. Such inappropriate sex and gender education has made children shallow and, as a resul,t it has prevented them from thinking seriously about their lives and the importance of other people. It is necessary to investigate the situation in the schools and to think about what would be a healthy educational environment.

Notes by the translator:
1.Chlamydia is one of the main S.T.D. in Japan.

2. According to Takashi Sugiyama, she indirectly criticized the Sei-Kyo-Kyo (The Private Organization for the Study of Human Sexuality and Gender Education).
