An essential part of our mission is to “prepare leaders sustained by a love of learning,” and we’re committed to granting you that opportunity, regardless of your family’s financial circumstances. We can demonstrate this commitment to you by providing a careful evaluation of your family’s individual circumstances and consistently meeting 100% of your calculated need for all four years.
Less than a state school?
Your Bates education isn’t just affordable, it’s practical. We’ll work with you to ensure that you graduate with the lowest possible levels of student loan debt. The average student loan debt, for example, for Bates students who graduated in May 2012, was $17,070 — much lower than the most recently reported national average loan debt of nearly $27,000.
In addition to receiving grants (that don’t have to be repaid), and a low-interest student loan, you may also be eligible for a campus job. Working on campus is a great way to earn some extra money, supplement your academic curriculum and see how Bates operates from the inside.
