CLOSING RECEPTION: Come celebrate the art of SPINDLEWORKS, an artists’ collective for adult with disabilities, this Friday evening. This reception marks the end of the current exhibit “ From Eagles to Elvis: The Art of Spidleworks” and the conclusion of the year-long thesis that brought together Bates and Spindleworks. Upcoming events and announcements

The TOM SNOW QUARTET opens the Olin Art Center’s Jazz Series, featuring the most swinging musicians in the Northeast. From the piano, Tom will be joined by friends and jazz luminaries Ralph Norris (saxophones), Marshall Wood (bass), and Less Harris, Jr. (drums). Their sweet sound will feature a repertoire drawn from the Great American Songbook and are sure to bring listeners feelings that are mellifluous and warm. Free Admissions.

PSYCH LECTURE *** PGILL G65 ***Come hear a talk by a psychologist named by Time magazine as one of "America's Best in Science and Medicine"!  The Bates Psychology Club is delighted to host a lecture by Harvard University psychologist Elizabeth Spelke this Sunday, April 30th at 7pm in Pettengill G65.  Spelke is a well known leader in the subfield of infant cognition and her talk is entitled "Core Knowledge of Number and Geometry."  Please make every effort to attend what is sure to be an excellent lecture by this world renowned psychologist.  Refreshments will be served.

The Harward Center for Community Partnerships Presents COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP DAY on Friday May 12th 2006.  Bates students, faculty, staff, clubs, and teams will partner with  local organizations to build community and address local needs. A community walk along the Androscoggin River and a BBQ will follow to celebrate! We are looking for project leaders and volunteers! If you are interested, get involved! *WOMEN'S HEALTH: THE LAST DAY TO SCHEDULE A PAP TEST at the Health Center this year is Thursday, May 4th. Please plan ahead.  Other Women's Health Services will be available by appointment  until May 25th.

THE BATES COLLEGE STORE is sponsoring a CONTEST during Short Term: "How Well Do You Know Your Campus?"  Each week - contestants must correctly identify the locations of 4 different items/person  featured in the pictures. Different pictures will be featured each week. Four chances to win!  Weekly prizes: a Bates College tee-shirt, cap or novelty -- Only correct entries will be entered for the drawings. -- ALL correct entries will be entered for the  May 25th drawing for the Grand Prize!  GRAND PRIZE:   iPod nano! The contest pictures are located at the College Store.  You must come in to see them and submit your entry.

Weekly organizational meetings

6:00 pm  COLLEGE SHUTTLE - The shuttle runs on Friday and Saturday nights from 6 pm - 12 am, and Sunday from 12 pm - 6 pm.  The shuttle runs to Auburn locations at the beginning of each hour, and runs to Lewiston locations on the half hour.
6:00 pm Join us for the celebration of Shabbat – Multi-Cultural Center (6 pm services, 6:30 pm dinner)

Students, student organizations, administrative or faculty offices who wish to submit a blurb to appear in the Bates Daily should fill out a request form in the Student Activities Office in Chase Hall by 4:00 p.m. the day before the date you want it to appear or 4:00 p.m. Friday for Saturday and Sunday editions. Blurbs for one event may only run in three editions. The CSA Office reserves complete editorial control over all submissions to the Bates Daily.
