INFO SESSION FOR ALTERNATIVE SHORT TERM: MAINE, NICARAGUA, AND GLOBALIZATION.  All students, faculty, and staff are invited to this presentation and info session about the second annual student-led "alternative" short term exploring the impact of globalization on communities in Maine and Nicaragua.  If you are interested in visiting real communities in Maine and Nicaragua to see what they are doing to fight the 'race to the bottom,' exploring alternatives to the current neoliberal economic model, or just want to find out what "neoliberal economic model" means, then we hope to see you there!  Today at 4:10 pm in Pettengill G21.  Interested but can't make it?  Email aharrow.  Sponsored by NWC and the Harward Center.

CLUB LEADERS: MANDATORY BUDGET MEETING:  Please take note that today, (the 7th of March) at 4:30pm, in Pettengill G65, there shall be a mandatory meeting for club leaders/treasurers. This meeting shall provide an introduction and the necessary details for THE UPCOMING BUDGET PROCESS. This process has been revised and shall be new to all, so even if you are a seasoned club treasurer you need to attend.  It is absolutely imperative that a leader of your club attend this meeting in order to be eligible to apply for a budget.

“FAITH AND ENVIRONMENT: WHERE IS GOD IN THE MIDST OF THE ECOLOGICAL CRISIS?” This week’s gathering of the Bates Christian Fellowship will feature a presentation by Tim Clayton on the role of faith in ecological care.  Tim is the founder of Eleuthero – A Christian community that explores the interaction of Christian spirituality and theology with environmental ethics and issues of justice for the poor.  Come join us!  Refreshments will be served.  Wednesday, March 8, 7:00 in Hirasawa Lounge.

You are invited to join the, BATES COLLEGE INVESTMENT CLUB - (Every Wednesday) at 7:30 pm.  The BCIC is open to all Bates students, faculty and staff. Members will:  Help manage a REAL investment portfolio (REAL MONEY!) to support financial aid at Bates. Learn the principles of financial analysis and valuation. Room G65, Pettengill Hall.  The BCIC will be meeting on most Wednesdays this semester to study the principles of financial analysis and valuation.

JUGGLER MORTEN HANSEN COMING TO BATES - Wednesday, March 8, at 8:00 PM in the Mays Center.  The Bates Juggling Club and Student Activities Office proudly present: Morten Hansen: winner of four gold medals from the International Jugglers Association and two time world record holder for most balls juggled between two people (15!).  Mr. Hansen will be performing "Falling Up Words," a unique blend of juggling, dance, comedy, and drama that will inspire an audience of all ages. Don't miss this exciting opportunity to be mesmerized by the outer limits of human ability in performing arts.

Diapers and the Divine: Motherhood as Spiritual Journey -  The Reverend Doctor Jodi Cohen Hayashida Thursday March 9th, 4:30-6:00 PM Skelton Lounge – Midnight feedings, lack of sleep, unpredictable routine…Who has time for a faith life>  Parenthood can throw even the most grounded of religious lives into chaos, but that same chaos hold the promise of deeper and more authentic faith.  Rev. Hayashida will explore the deep grace she has discovered in that meeting place between her life as a religious professional and her life as a relatively new mother.  Rev. Hayashida is the minister of First Universalist Church of Auburn.  She received her D. Min. at Meadville/Lombard Theological School.”  An installment in the monthly series “SPIRITUAL JOURNEYS: STORIES OF THE SOUL.”  Sponsored by the office of the Chaplain.
