The Career Discovery Internship Program (CDIP), established in 1978, is an alumni-sponsored program providing Bates undergraduates with the opportunity to spend all or part of their spring break with you in your place of employment. The purpose of the program is to provide an opportunity for students to learn more about a particular job or career field in order to help them through the career decision-making process.

Typically, between 100 and 150 alumni and parents offer internship (or job shadowing) opportunities each year. Approximately 50 to 65 students are then placed. Although the program is especially geared towards sophomores and juniors, all academic levels are encouraged to apply. The Office of Career Services coordinates the entire program, from marketing to sponsor/intern matching. As a sponsor, you are responsible for helping to design a program which will provide a broad overview of the many facets of your career field. Students make their own transportation and room and board arrangements unless you wish to underwrite this cost or invite the student into your home. CDIP is a wonderful opportunity for you to make a significant contribution to the life of a Bates undergraduate by sharing the highlights of your career with them.

Please contact the OCS at (207)786-6232.
