CITI

CITI Training in Research Ethics

The college is committed to the responsible and ethical conduct of research, and has appointed a research integrity officer (Associate Dean Don Dearborn, 207-786-6472, (ddearbor@bates.edu) to help ensure compliance with federal regulations. So that faculty and students may be trained in a variety of research-related areas, the college has joined the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI), an online research training program that includes modules on responsible conduct of research, biosafety, export control, animal care, human subjects, and data management. CITI training is available to all students at www.citiprogram.org by logging in as a Bates student.

Please consult with your research advisor to determine which CITI training modules are appropriate for your project. Please also note that if you are conducting research off-campus, the institution or mentor hosting your research experience may have additional ethics training requirements.
