DAVID BYRON, faculty member of the British American Drama Academy (BADA), will be visiting the Bates theater department on Friday, October 4 at 12:00 noon in New Commons 226. He’ll discuss the Study Abroad programs at BADA which enable Bates students to study acting and the theater in London or at Oxford for academic credit and with financial aid. BCDC First Year Friday: Calling all First-years! Come join the Career Development Fellows for First-Year Friday, October 4th in Commons 211 from 1:30-2:30. Meet this year’s Fellows, learn about the Bates Career Development Center and the ins-and-outs of internships, jobs, resumes are more! There will be snacks and refreshments served. BCDC Law School Visit and Open House for Bates, Bowdoin and Colby students – An admissions event featuring Boston College, Northeastern University and University of Maine Law Schools. Hosted by University of Maine School of Law. October 4, 2013, 2:00-5:00, University of Maine Law School Is law school for you? Should you go right to law school or work for a while beforehand? What do law schools look for when evaluating applicants? This special afternoon program will introduce you to the profession of law and the details of law school. You’ll attend a mock environmental law class, hear from law school admissions officers (Boston College, Northeastern, Univ. of Maine), and meet Bates alumni who are current law students. Friendly, informed people will answer your questions and help you decide whether this path could be a fit for you. Space is limited so you must register on JobCat. Open to all class years.
Stop by the Peer Writing and Speaking Center for friendly, constructive conversation about your papers and presentations – no appointment necessary. Fall hours: Daytimes: Monday through Thursday from 9 to 5, Friday from 9 to 3, and Sunday afternoons from 1 to 5. Evenings: Sunday through Thursday nights from 7 to 11. We hope to see you!
The Student Activities Office is pleased to offer a bus THIS Friday to Portland’s Old Port for the First Friday art walk. The bus departs Chase Hall at 5pm and returns to campus at 11pm. Sign up in Chase Hall!
Weekend shuttle to Lewiston and Auburn: The shuttle runs Friday and Saturday evenings, from 6 pm – 12 midnight, and then on Sunday, from 12 noon – 6 pm. The shuttle leaves from in front of Chase Hall and heads to Auburn locations at the top of the hour. At the bottom of each hour the shuttle heads to Lewiston locations.
