Born in Vietnam, Jane spent the first 11 years of her life living in Ho Chi Minh City. In 2012, Jane and her family moved to the United States in hopes of a better life. Taking advantage of the opportunities afforded to her by her parents and new country, Jane moved to Philadelphia to attend Bryn Mawr College where she studied mathematics and economics. While a student at Bryn Mawr, Jane danced for four years with the Rhythm and Motion Dance Company. While initially having dreams of working on Wall Street, it was not until her junior year at Bryn Mawr that Jane’s interests shifted and she realized her passion for higher education.
After graduation, Jane moved to Spain for two years and was able to travel to more than 15 different countries. Having built friendships that span the globe, Jane takes comfort in knowing she has free room and board on almost all 7 continents! Having called 4 cities her home, Jane is now making Lewiston, ME her fifth. Jane was drawn to Bates for its egalitarian mission, historical commitment to inclusion and access, and its status as one of the first coeducational institutions in the United States.
Like a true Southern Californian (yes, In-N-Out is the best burger!), Jane can be found exploring the food scene of whatever city she may be in, planning future adventures, and honing her dance skills in her favorite hip-hop classes.
