Discover Bates — an Open House program for high school juniors and their families to learn about Bates

This informational Open House is an opportunity for you and your family to get an early start on your college search. Discover Bates includes an Admission and Financial Aid presentation, student and faculty panels, a campus tour and lunch in the Bates Dining Commons.

During the day you will…

  • Learn about what Bates has to offer, and what it means to be a “Batesie.”
  • Ask questions of staff, faculty and current students to discover if Bates is a great fit for you.
  • Explore the Bates community. Attend a panel, have lunch with current students, check out an art exhibit.
  • Connect with Bates and begin to build a unique relationship with students, faculty, administrators, staff and the Lewiston-Auburn community.

11–Noon Campus Tour Beginning at New Commons, 136 Central Ave.
Noon–12:50 p.m. Student Panel: “Life as a Bates Student” Schaeffer Theatre, 305 College St.
1–2 p.m. Campus Tour Beginning at Office of Admission, 23 Campus Ave.
1 p.m. Attend a Martin Luther King Jr. Day event on campus
2 p.m. Admission and Financial Aid Information Session Office of Admission, 23 Campus Ave.

RSVP by calling the Office of Admission at 855-BATES55 (855-228-3755). Or register online. The registration deadline is Jan. 15, 2014.

Parking

We recommend you park in the 141 Russell St. parking lot, behind Merrill Gymnasium. Please check in at Pettengill Hall’s Perry Atrium, 4 Andrews Road (Alumni Walk), which is a short walk from this parking lot. Students will direct you as you cross campus. Welcome-packets including a schedule for the day will be available when you check-in.


MLK Day

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, classes are canceled and special programming takes place throughout the day. You are welcome to attend any of these special events as well. This year’s theme at Bates is “The Dream 50 Years Later: Who Are We?” A hard-copy schedule of events will be available when you check-in.
