Get your bearings

During Orientation, we help you ease into Bates life through the public demonstration of our fundamental beliefs and processes. Your day-to-day processes are demonstrated as well with tours through your residence and dining hall.

Free to join!

Orientation includes our annual Activities Fair where you can check out the more-than 110 student groups at Bates. Here’s your chance to see what each group is all about, meet members and even sign up. Plus it’s probably the only time you’ll get to play Frisbee indoors.

Annual Entering Student Outdoor Program (AESOP)

Organized and run by students, AESOP comprises more than 40 student-led trips, featuring base camping, hiking, canoeing and surfing around Maine and New Hampshire, plus a community-service program in Lewiston-Auburn. By week’s end, you’ll have made new friends and seen the beauty of Acadia, Moosehead and Mahoosuc.
