Avril Dunleavy made a big statement on behalf of the Bates alpine ski team last weekend at the U.S. Alpine Championships, culminating in Sunday’s women’s slalom championship, where she finished sixth overall and first among American juniors.
Anne Rockwell finished strong in her first NCAA Championship appearance, taking 24th place, while Avril Dunleavy came in 32nd on Friday, the final day of alpine competition at the NCAA National Collegiate Skiing Championships.
Bates junior Anne Rockwell and sophomore Avril Dunleavy placed 29th and 31st, respectively, as the 2013 NCAA National Collegiate Skiing Championships got under way Wednesday with giant slalom alpine racing at Middlebury Snow Bowl.
Bates will have four student-athletes competing at the 2013 NCAA National Collegiate Skiing Championship, including sophomore Avril Dunleavy and junior Anne Rockwell from the alpine team.
