Ben Manter

2010: Manter claimed 10th place in the Men’s Slaloms portion of the NCAA Collegiate Skiing Championships, securing All-America honors. Manter became Bates’ first downhill skier to win All-America honors since Kyle Hildebrand ’02 and Kim Rogers ’03 both did so in 2001…. Made an impressive leap in his performance from sophomore year – he finished the 2009 season ranked 34th on the EISA’s NCAA Qualifiers list, but vaulted to No. 17 in 2010. His year included two top-10 finishes: eighth in the slalom at St. Michael’s, and sixth in the slalom the following week at the University of Vermont. He was also 11th in the slalom at the Dartmouth Carnival…. Elected co-captain of the team for a second straight year for 2011.
2009: Ranked 25th in the giant slalom on the EISA circuit…. His best day of the season came at the UNH Carnival at Attitash Bear Peak, when he placed 15th in the slalom (1:31.75) and 17th in the giant slalom (2:20.60)…. Elected as a co-captain for the 2010 season.
2008: At the Dartmouth Carnival, finished 34th in the giant slalom and tied teammate Leo Menard for 19th place in the men’s slalom out of 59 competitors, with a two-run combined time of 1:37.76…. At the Middlebury Winter Carnival and Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association Championships, placed 26th in the slalom (1:34.46).
