The Unveiling of the Benjamin E. Mays Statue

The Dr. Benjamin E. Mays Historical Preservation Site, Greenwood, S.C.
Bates alumni, parents, and friends are invited to a special ceremony to honor one of Bates’ most esteemed and influential alumni, the late Dr. Benjamin E. Mays ’20. The GLEAMNS Human Resources Commission will unveil a seven-foot bronze statue of Mays at the Dr. Benjamin E. Mays Historical Preservation Site in Greenwood, S.C. Located at Mays’ childhood home, the monument will forever commemorate the civil rights leader, minister, former president of Morehouse College, and spiritual mentor to the Rev. Reunion Weekend

Camp Bates makes Reunion a terrific family vacation, too! Camp Bates offers engaging programming for children ages 4 to 13 on Friday evening, Saturday morning, and Saturday evening.

BatesServes 2018
Celebrate the 13th-annual Bates Days of Service this summer by participating in community service projects with fellow Bates community members and their families across the country. Co-sponsored by the Office of Alumni & Family Engagement and the Harward Center for Community Partnerships, Days of Service celebrates the Bates traditions of informed civic action and stewardship of the wider world.

The 2018 Bates Days of Service will take place throughout July and early August in several locations nationwide.

Registration opens in spring 2018.


Back to Bates: Homecoming & Family Weekend
October 5–7, 2018
The annual fall campus celebration features the largest a cappella concert of the year, home athletic contests, student presentations and faculty lectures, arts showcases, a petting zoo, a dessert fair, an all-campus barbecue, and the ever-popular Harvest Dinner. More than 2,000 alumni, parents, and friends returned to campus for Back to Bates: Homecoming & Family Weekend in 2017. We look forward to seeing you in early October 2018!
