Multicultural and International Alumni
Bates is dedicated to forging meaningful relationships with our multicultural and international alumni and supporting Bates initiatives around diversity and inclusion.
The term multicultural and international includes all typically underrepresented populations, such as African American, Asian American, international, Jewish, Latino, LGBTQ, Native American, persons with disability, first generation college students, and allies for diversity and inclusion.
In 2011, the Office of Alumni and Parent Engagement hosted a series of lively gatherings across the country entitled “Bates Listening Tour: Multicultural and Allies’ Voices.” In Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City, Portland (Maine), Washington D.C., and on campus for Homecoming and Parents & Family Weekend, these gatherings provided opportunity to discuss, connect, and share, with the goal of improving the connections between the college and its multicultural and international alumni.
