Dr. Barnett’s research focus is on indigenous-feminist perspectives in pre-colonial archaeology, centering on intersects of archaeology and social justice. Currently, she has a 3 year NSF grant funding collaborative research with the Village of Togiak, Alaska in northern Bristol Bay. She offers the following courses: Anth 103, Intro to Arch; Anth 104, Intro to Human Evolution; Anth 222, Archaeology and Colonial Entanglements in North America; and Anth s32, Archaeology Field Experience in Alaska. Her service work includes Bates committees; Diversity Advocacy Team and American Cultural Studies. In addition, she is a member of the Abbe Museum’s Decolonization Advisory Committee, serves as a NSF Polar Studies panelist, and does various service with community and Tribal organizations.
