When preparing to apply to Bates, consider visiting the campus and meeting with an admissions counselor. That way, you can get a personal view of the college. There are special application requirements for transfer students and international students. Here's a list of what U.S. citizens need to apply to Bates: 1. The application - Bates uses the Common Application and a supplement. Included in the Common Application are the school report (including a counselor evaluation), two teacher evaluations, a personal statement, and biographical information concerning extracurricular interests. The Bates Supplement requires an essay and a mid-year report, and inquires whether you would like to submit standardized test scores. If you plan to pursue the performing or visual arts at Bates, you may supplement your application with a sample of your talent and interest in the arts. We also welcome information about your athletic accomplishments. Application deadlines vary based on your preferences. 2. Standardized test scores. The submission of standardized testing (the SAT I, SAT II, and the ACT) for admission is optional. You may also be interested in our policy on Advanced Placement Tests. 3. The nonrefundable $60 application fee. This is submitted with the application. Students for whom the fee would be a financial hardship may have their guidance counselor submit a College Board "Request for Fee Waiver" with their application. Students who are not citizens of the United States are not required to submit a fee or fee waiver request. |
