The Clean Water Act Turns 40

richard_gosse_pic1-feedA new exhibit in the Muskie Archives foyer highlights the Clean Water Act of 1972 on its 40th anniversary. The exhibit features documents and photographs looking back at the pollution, policy and people involved with this landmark legislation. With Sen. Edmund S. Muskie as the driving force behind the legislation, Congress overwhelmingly overrode President Richard Nixon’s veto and passed the Clean Water Act.
