Dan Johnson ’06 (Detroit Lakes, Minn.) finished fourth at the M.I.T. Harrier Classic on Saturday, helping the Bobcats claim their second invitational in a row to start the season.Johnson covered the 7,945-meter course in 26:05.6, less than 30 seconds behind the overall winner, Stan Pyle of Wheaton. Johnson was just two-tenths of a second behind teammate Joel Anderson ’05 (New Brighton, Minn.) and was followed by Michael Downing ’05 (Gorham, Maine) in fifth.Bates placed six runners in the top-10, easily winning the team title with 23 points. Wheaton was second with 88 points.
Bates, ranked 12th nationally last week, will take this weekend off before competing in the Open New England Championships next weekend.

Carolyn King ’07 (Hanover, Mass.) scored two game-winning goals in three days to lead Bates to a 2-1 week.She scored the only goal of the game against Gordon, giving Bates the lead less than 10 minutes into the game. She added the game-winner in a 2-1 win over Connecticut College in the NESCAC opener.King scored a goal last season and has two this season for a total of three in her career.
Bates, now 3-3 overall, 1-1 NESCAC, will face Tufts on Saturday in Medford, Mass.
