|Men’s Cross Country ’04
The men’s cross country team finished fourth at the NCAA Division III New England regional to advance to the national championship meet for the first time since 1999 on Saturday.Dan Johnson ’06 (Detroit Lakes, Minn.) led the Bobcats, finishing 13th in the 280-runner field with a time of 26:29.5 on the five-mile course. Joel Anderson ’05 (New Brighton, Minn.) and Steve Monsulick ’07 (Kents Hill, Maine) were both less than 25 seconds behind Johnson in 26th and 27th, while Michael Downing ’05 (Gorham, Maine) was 34th. Matt Biggart ’06 (Cheshire, Conn.) was 45th to round out the scoring for the Bobcats. Harrison Little ’08 (Hanover, N.H.) was 81st and Matt Dunlap ’08 (Farmington, Maine) was 85th for the Bobcats.
The NCAA Championship will be contested in Eau Claire, Wis., on Saturday afternoon. Twenty-four teams qualified for the meet, with four of those teams coming out of the New England region.

Lynch finished 41st to lead the women’s cross country team at the NCAA Division III New England regional championship on Saturday.Lynch was the top finisher for Bates for the third time this season, covering the six-kilometer course in 23:25.1, less than two minutes behind the individual winner, Caroline Cretti of Williams.
The Bobcats finished 10th out of 41 teams at the regional championship, with 281 individual runners competing in the race.
