Brian Gerrity scored his 1,000th career point on Dec. 11, a free throw to give the men’s basketball team a 68-52 lead over Husson with 6:41 left in the game. He is the 26th player in Bates history to join the 1,000-point club.Gerrity ’05 (Augusta, Maine) finished with nine points against Husson, including crucial free throws down the stretch in Bates’ 74-69 win. He scored 16 against the University of Maine at Farmington on Dec. 8, which the Bobcats (9-1) lost, 66-65, on a last-second shot.
Gerrity is averaging 12 points per game this season. He is a career 43 percent shooter from behind the arc and was ranked No. 17 in the country last season in 3-point shooting.

Kelly Godsey shattered her own school record in the 20-lb. weight throw, qualifying automatically for the 2005 NCAA Div. III Women’s Track and Field Championships.Her throw of 63-feet, 0.25 inches bested her previous record by more than three feet and surpassed the NCAA automatic qualifying mark by more than seven feet. Her closest competitor at the Bates Invitational, held Dec. 10, trailed by more than 12 feet.
Godsey ’06 (Parker, Colo.) also won the shot put, qualifying provisionally for the NCAA Championships with a throw of 44-7.5. She was named ECAC female Field Athlete of the Week.
