Ricardo Weisskopf ’08 (San Salvador, El Salvador) finished the 2004-05 season ranked as one of the top 20 squash players in the country, a distinction earning him All-America status.He led Bates to a No. 13 team ranking, going 22-3 at the No. 1 position with his only losses coming against players from Trinity, Harvard and Cornell. Seeded No. 24 in the individual national tournament, Weisskopf beat three-time All-American and former top 10 player Richard Rheppeto (No. 15, University of Pennsylvania), 3-0.
Weisskopf is Bates’ first men’s squash All-American.
|Meg Coffin ’07
Meg Coffin ’07 (Westford, Mass.) led the women’s basketball team to an 83-64 win over Emmanuel on Saturday. She finished with a double-double, scoring 21 points and pulling down 18 rebounds. She also had four assists and three steals. With the win, Bates advances to the NCAA Sweet 16 for the first time since 1997-98 season.Last week, Coffin was named second team All-NESCAC. Six times she has turned in double-double performances, including Bates’ last three games. In the NESCAC semifinals, she scored 10 with 13 rebounds and had 10 points with 12 boards against Bowdoin in the NESCAC finals.
She averages 12 points and just over seven rebounds per game.
