Bates golf earn CBB title for second time in three years

The Bates golf team took home the Colby-Bates-Bowdoin title for the second time in three years. Bates finished with a score of 408, Bowdoin trailed with 419, and Colby totaled 438.

Katherine O’Connor (S. Loudenville, NY/Emma Williard) had the low score of the day on the women’s side  with an 86 (41, 45) to edge out Colby’s Jackie Page’s score of 90. Emily Friedman (Narberth, PA/The Baldwin School) finished with 100 (50, 50).

Newcomer Jake Cox (Sammamish, WA/Lakeside School) led the Bates’ men with 80 (39, 41), following Bowdoin’s Brandon Mahoy’s 77.   Alex Jacobson (Newton, MA/Newton North) and Chris Foster (Scarsdale, NY/Trinity Pawling School) scored 81 (39, 42 and 41, 40 respectively).   Sam Haaz (Flourtown, PA/Germantown Academy) scored an 82 (38, 44), while Nate Purinton (Toledo, OH/St. Johns) shot an 84 (42, 42).

The team will compete at the NESCAC Championships, hosted by Williams College, on October 1-2.
