Golf fifth after first day of NESCAC championships
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Bates golf team surged to fifth place the first day of the two-day New England Small College Athletic Conference championships on Oct. 1 with a team total of 319. “A great effort,” said head coach Peter Lasagna. “The total is one of the lowest first-day scores in Bates golf history.”
The Bobcats loomed just three strokes away from third place. Jake Cox ’08 was tied for 10th overall with a 78. Alex Jacobson ’08 sits at 16th with a 79. Captain Nate Purinton ’06 shot an 80 and Chris Foster ’07 rounded out the Bobcats’ solid Saturday with an 82 at the par-71, 6640-yard Taconic Golf Club.
