Volleyball team drops matches to Trinity, Connecticut College
NEW LONDON, Conn. — The Bates College volleyball team went winless in three matches at the NESCAC Weekend at Connecticut College, losing in straight games to Trinity College and Connecticut College on Saturday, on the heels of Friday’s straight-game loss to Wesleyan.
Trinity bounced Bates (4-16, 0-6) 26-30, 16-30 and 30-32 in the early afternoon match. First-year Katherine Dexter came up with 16 digs in the match for Bates, while junior setter Katie Graeff had 21 assists and senior Jasmine McDavid (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had seven kills and three blocks.
The host Camels defeated the Bobcats by a 23-30, 22-30, 25-30 score. Leading Bates statistically were senior Liz Santy (Farmington, Conn.) with 10 kills and nine digs, McDavid with 10 kills and two blocks, sophomore Rebecca Kunzendorf (Newton, Mass.) with 10 assists, first-year Beth Billington (St. Paul, Minn.) with four kills and four blocks, and Graeff with 14 assists.
Bates next competes at Colby-Sawyer College on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
