Weisskopf to compete in Pan Am Fed games

LEWISTON, Maine — Bates College sophomore squash player Ricky Weisskopf has been selected to compete for his home country, in his home country, in the 2005 Pan Am Federation tournament in El Salvador this month.

Weisskopf, one of two freshmen to be named All-American last season in squash, will represent El Salvador at the tournament, which will take place in San Salvador Oct. 24-31.

Weisskopf will play in El Salvador’s No. 1 spot; four players will comprise each team.

Weisskopf was Bates’ first men’s squash All-American last year and one of only two freshmen All-Americans in the country, going 23-3 and earning Bates’ Male Athlete of the Year award.

The Pan Am Games will bring together the best squash players from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and other countries.
