Volleyball team concludes season with 1-2 weekend

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Bates College volleyball team lost twice on Saturday at Williams College’s NESCAC Weekend, in four games to Williams and in three games to Middlebury, finishing the Bobcats’ season.

Bates finishes the 2005 season at 7-23 overall, 2-8 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference.

The seniors led the way in Bates’ 30-26, 24-30, 16-30, 16-30 loss to Williams (17-11, 6-3), as senior Liz Santy (Farmington, Conn.) had 10 kills, nine digs and two service aces, and Jasmine McDavid (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had 11 kills and four blocks.

Junior Lauren Gold (Sacramento, Calif.) had 23 digs, junior Katie Graeff (Chevy Chase, Md.) had 27 assists, and first-year middle blocker Beth Billington (St. Paul, Minn.) had nine kills.

Middlebury (12-11, 5-4) topped Bates on Saturday afternoon 30-28, 30-19, 30-14. Graeff collected 22 assists and five kills, Santy had six kills and five digs, and Gold had 13 digs.
