Fisher Qua ’06 The Bates men’s swimming and diving team topped Trinity College on Saturday, 161-123, and the Bobcats probably couldn’t have done it without Qua, a senior co-captain.Qua (Cambridge, N.Y.) was a winner in two individual events, as well as part of Bates’ victorious 200-yard medley relay team (1:45.73), along with first-year Chris Berry, first-year Josh Goldfarb and senior John Bauer.
The versatile Qua also captured first place in the 200 breaststroke (2:30.43) and in the 100 backstroke (1:07.62). Bates competes at Bowdoin College on Tuesday, Dec. 7, in its last meet before semester break. |
Annie Barton ’08 Out of many impressive performances in Bates’ women’s swimming and diving team’s 178-121 dual-meet win over Trinity on Saturday, Bates sophomore Annie Barton came to the fore by winning three individual events and one relay.Barton (Holladay, Utah) was first in the 200-yard freestyle (with a finals time of 2:04.38), the 100 free (56.14) and the 200 individual medley (2:18.71). She also swam a leg on the winning 200 medley relay team (1:57.27), along with sophomore Emilie Swenson, sophomore Meghan Conley, and senior co-captain Katie Gatti.
