Bates swimmers and divers fall to Middlebury

LEWISTON, Maine — The Bates College swimming and diving teams lost to a dominant Middlebury College Sunday at Tarbell Pool in a dual NESCAC meet. The Panther women defeated the Bobcats 146-119, while the Panther men won 146-108.
First-year diver Kelsey Lamdin (Brunswick, Maine) stood as a bright spot for the Bates’ women’s side, winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions with 242.65 and 238.95 points, respectively.
On the men’s side, Bates swam a strong 200 medley relay team, getting 11 points from its 1:33.92 performance, with senior John Bauer (Concord, Mass.), first-year Mark Andrews (Cumberland, Maine), and the team’s co-captains, junior Charles Swanson (Woodbridge, Conn.) and senior Fisher Qua (Cambridge, N.Y.).
Both Bates squads will next compete at Babson College on Saturday, Jan. 14.
