Bobcats of the week of Jan. 9, 2006
Bryan Wholey ’08 Bryan Wholey’s teammate Zak Ray made the most dramatic contribution to Bates’ 73-69 overtime win over Colby on Saturday, but the Bobcats wouldn’t have had the chance for last-minute heroics if it hadn’t been for teammates like Rob Stockwell (16 points, eight rebounds), Pat Halloran (nine points on three 3-pointers) and Wholey. The sophomore guard from Marshfield, Mass., had his first career double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds, shooting 6-for-14 from the floor overall and 3-for-7 on three-pointers. He scored nine of Bates’ 15 points on threes during a five-minute stretch of the second half that allowed the Bobcats to hang in the game despite a late-game shooting drought.
Wholey’s turnaround jumper from the top of the key gave Bates the lead for good with 59 seconds left in overtime, 71-69. |
Meg Coffin ’07 Coffin currently ranks first in the NESCAC in rebounding (11.2 rpg) and field goal percentage (.583), and is second in the NESCAC in scoring (17.4 ppg), steals (2.90 spg) and blocked shots (1.60). |
