Hoops preview: Bates women seek rebound vs. Tufts
LEWISTON, Maine — The Bates College women’s basketball team seeks to bounce back from a tough loss at Bowdoin on Tuesday with a victory Saturday at home against Tufts University, in the Bobcats’ first home date in their last six contests. The game will be webcast on BatesCast.com.
Meanwhile, the Bates men (19-2) take their 16-game win streak to Tufts on Saturday in a big NESCAC matchup; that game can be heard on JumboCast.com.
Here’s a quick look ahead at this weekend’s home basketball game:
Bates women (14-7, 5-1 NESCAC) vs. Tufts University (8-10, 2-4 NESCAC)
Tipoff: Saturday, Feb. 4, 3 p.m. at Alumni Gym
Outlook: The Bates College women’s basketball team attempts to shake off the disappointment of its last game, a non-league loss at rival Bowdoin on Tuesday, with the first home game the Bobcats have played in six contests. The key to that game was rebounding: despite the tandem of Meg Coffin (10.5 rpg) and Matia Kostakis (7.5), Bates was outboarded by Bowdoin 42-33.
Bates finishes up its regular season with three straight home games, and is in position to host a NESCAC first-round playoff game, as well. Depending on Friday night’s scores, a win today might secure that goal.
