Bates women’s bid for third place at NESCACs unresolved
HARTFORD, Conn. — The Bates College women’s squash team’s bid for third place at the NESCAC Invitational over the weekend went unresolved, with the blizzard hitting the Northeast cancelling all but the championship matches of the tournament on Sunday at Trinity College.
Bates was scheduled to play Bowdoin today at 12:15 p.m., after on Saturday’s quarterfinal and semifinal rounds, when the Bobcats defeated Connecticut College 8-1 in the quarterfinal round, then lost to Williams 9-0 in the semifinal round Saturday at the NESCAC Invitational at Trinity College. Had they beaten Bowdoin for a third time in as many meetings this season, the Bobcats would have claimed third place.
The host Bantams, ranked third nationally by the College Squash Association, did defeat No. 8 Williams 9-0 on Sunday to claim the tournament crown.
