Meg Coffin named NESCAC Player of the Week

Meg Coffin ’07 has earned POTW recognition in four different weeks this season.

HADLEY, Mass. — Bates College junior center Meg Coffin was named New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the second time in this basketball season on Monday.

Coffin posted her 12th and 13th double-doubles of the season in victories over NESCAC opponents Amherst and Trinity over the weekend, while the Bobcats (17-7, 8-1 NESCAC) clinched the top seed in the NESCAC playoffs for the first time.

She grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds to match her 18 points against Amherst on Friday, then had 19 points and 11 rebounds in only 24 minutes of action on Saturday against Trinity. On the week, Coffin was 16-for-23 (69.6%) from the field while averaging 18.5 points, 14.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists.

It’s the fourth different week Coffin has earned a Player of the Week accolade. She was named NESCAC Player of the Week on Dec. 5, and was named Co-Player of the Week by the Maine Womens’ Basketball Coaches Association on Jan. 9 and Feb. 6.

Bates will host eighth-seeded Colby (9-14, 2-7 NESCAC) Saturday at 2 p.m. in the NESCAC quarterfinals.
