NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Running in her first indoor 5,000-meter race, Bates College junior Kathryn Moore (Pelham, N.H.) covered the distance in 17:33.09, the third-best time in school history and a provisionally qualifying time for next weekend’s NCAA Division III indoor championships.
Along with Julie Shelkey winning the pole vault, Moore’s race highlighted the Bates women’s track and field team’s efforts Friday at the Trinity Last Chance track meet held at Yale University.
Shelkey, a junior from Conway, Mass., vaulted a personal best 10 feet and 6 inches to claim first place at the meet.
