Women’s track and field places fourth at Aloha Relays

BRUNSWICK, Maine — Senior captains Keelin Godsey, Ashley Wentworth and Kathleen Nugent were among the first-place finishers for the Bates College women’s track and field team at Bowdoin College’s Aloha Relays on Saturday.

Godsey came in first in the discus throw (149-2), the hammer throw (196-4) and the shot put (43-5) at the meet. Wentworth (North Andover, Mass.) won the 400 meters (59.71 seconds), and Nugent (Buxton, Maine) broke her own school record in the heptathlon with 4,028 points.

First-year Izzy Alexander (Harvard, Mass.) moved to No. 2 on Bates’ all-time list in the heptathlon, scoring 3,682 points.

Junior captain Kathryn Moore (Pelham, N.H.) won the 1,500 meter run in 4:47.61, the third-best time in school history.

Other highlights for Bates included sophomore Laura Golitko (Hopkinton, Mass.), who qualified to compete at the ECAC Championships in the pole vault with a second-place 10 feet, 2 inches, and first-year Krista Stafstrom (Dekalb, Ill.), who finished third in the 10,000 meters (42:27.68) and also qualified for ECACs.
