Men’s tennis team to play Trinity at NESCAC Championship
HADLEY, Mass. — The Bates College men’s tennis team earned a bid to the 2006 NESCAC Men’s Tennis Championship at Williams College, the conference announced Tuesday.
The Bobcats, who sport a 9-8 overall record, 9-7 against Division III teams and 2-4 against NESCAC competition, will be the No. 6 seed, and will face No. 3 Trinity in the first round of the tournament Friday at 1 p.m. The winner of that matchup will face second-seeded Williams Saturday at 1 p.m.
Bates is led by senior Will Boe-Wiegaard (Georgetown, Conn.), a three-time All-America selection and the Bobcats’ No. 1 singles player. Boe-Wiegaard and fellow senior Tristan Beach (Grand Rapids, Mich.) form Bates’ top doubles duo.
Bates’ women’s tennis team (6-6) came in seventh place in the NESCAC and thus missed the NESCAC Championship by one spot.
