Godsey heads seven Bobcats on All-NESCAC women’s team

HADLEY, Mass. — Bates College senior Keelin Godsey was named the Sebasteanski Award winner for the second year in a row as Most Outstanding Performer at the NESCAC Women’s Track and Field Championships, heading Bates’ contingent of seven athletes who made the 2006 NESCAC Women’s Track and Field All-Conference Team, the conference announced Wednesday.

Godsey broke his own championship record in the hammer throw with a toss of 61.80 meters, surpassing the previous mark by nearly two full meters. Godsey also earned first place in the discus throw (43.30 meters) and the shot put (13.45 meters).

Also named All-NESCAC from Bates’ women’s track and field team were: first-year Izzy Alexander (Harvard, Mass.) in the 400-meter hurdles and the 4×400 relay; sophomore Laura Golitko (Hopkinton, Mass.) in the pole vault; senior Kathleen Nugent (Buxton, Maine) in the 4×400 relay; junior Julie Shelkey (Conway, Mass.) in the pole vault; senior Danielle Touhey (Franklin, Mass.) in the 4×400 relay; and senior Ashley Wentworth (North Andover, Mass.) in the 400-meter dash and the 4×400 relay.
