Seven Bates men named All-NESCAC in outdoor track and field

HADLEY, Mass. — Seven members of the Bates College men’s track and field team were named to the 2006 NESCAC Track and Field All-Conference Team, the conference announced on Wednesday.

Two Bobcats are three-time honorees — junior Matt Capone (Auburn, Maine) in the 100- and 200-meter dash and the 4×400 relay, and senior Joel Colony (Harrisville, N.H.) in the 200- and 400-meter dash and the 4×400 relay.

Two more Bobcats earned two All-NESCAC laurels: junior Sam Thomas (Richmond, Va.) in the 400 and the 4×400 relay, and sophomore Noah Gauthier (Amherst, N.H.) in the shot put and hammer throw.

Also making the team were first-year Jerome Bennett (Chicago, Ill.) in the pole vault, junior Sam Murphy (St. Paul, Minn.) in the 4×400 relay and junior Andrew Tibbetts (Dedham, Mass.) in the 400-meter hurdles.
