SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Bates College sophomore John Miley (Hanson, Mass.) finished in third place in the men’s decathlon, and junior teammate Andrew Tibbetts (Dedham, Mass.) came in fifth place Friday at the Division III New England Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Miley scored 5,857 points, behind winner Steve Blum of Coast Guard, who scored 6,266. Miley’s performance earned Bates six points at the meet, which continues Saturday.
Tibbetts registered 5,384 points, scoring four points for the Bobcats.
