Softball coaches tap Bates’ Franklin as All-New England

LEWISTON, Maine — Junior outfielder Katie Franklin has been selected a 2006 New England Division III Second Team All-Star by the New England Softball Coaches Association.
It is the third postseason honor for Franklin (New Preston, Conn.), who helped lead Bates to a 16-16 record this season. Franklin was also named First Team All-NESCAC, as well as 2006 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III First Team All-New England.
Franklin started all 32 of Bates’ games in center field, batting .365 with four home runs and 23 RBIs, and led the Bobcats with 30 runs scored. She set a team record with 14 doubles, and registered the second-highest number of total bases in Bates history, with 66.
Also an outstanding fielder, Franklin committed no errors all season long.
