Bates women’s varsity eight climbs to seventh in final Div. 3 rankings

LEWISTON, Maine — The Bates College women’s varsity eight climbed to seventh in the final Division III rankings released by U.S. Rowing and the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association.

Bates climbed steadily up the rankings throughout the year, and leaped from ninth to seventh following last weekend’s ECAC Championships, where they won the Petite Final to place seventh overall at the regatta.

The lineup for the Bates women’s varsity eight is Katie Nolan (coxswain) ’06 (Gladstone, N.J.), Nicole Ritchie ’09 (East Dummerston, Vt.), Laura Director ’08 (Wilmington, Del.), Jeanethe Falvey ’07 (Phippsburg, Maine), Jackie Olson ’07 (Norfolk, Mass.), Hallie Preston ’06 (Bedford, N.Y.), Emily Hoffer ’06 (Danville, Vt.), Megan Germscheid ’06 (Little Falls, Minn.) and Caitlin Murphy ’09 (Duxbury, Mass.).

Bates’ men’s varsity eight finished fourth among NESCAC crews at the season-ending ECAC Championships last weekend. The men’s lineup comprises Christian Ford (coxswain) ’08 (Harvard, Mass.), Nate Hubbell ’06 (Yarmouth, Maine), Justin Streen ’06 (Kansas City, Mo.), Brad Sherman ’08 (Andover, Mass.), Colin Hollister ’06 (Pittsfield, Mass.), Tim Austin ’06 (Chesterland, Ohio), Jon Blanchard ’08 (Tewksbury, Mass.), Dylan Eberle ’08 (New Haven, Conn.) and Drew Hagstrum ’08 (North Oaks, Minn.).
