Godsey tapped as top women’s field athlete for second straight year

Keelin Godsey ’06 wins New England Region Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year honors for the second straight year from the USTFCCCA.

LEWISTON, Maine — Bates College senior Keelin Godsey has been named the New England Region Women’s Field Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the second straight year.

Heading into this week’s NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Godsey, a 13-time All-American, owns the NCAA Division III record in the hammer throw (205 feet, 4 inches), and is the defending national champion. He is also ranked among the top three in Division III in the shot put (47-5) and the discus throw (151-8).

Godsey competes at nationals starting today (Thursday) in the discus throw. On Friday Godsey competes in his best event, the hammer throw, and then in the shot put on Saturday.

Junior teammate and fellow team captain Kathryn Moore competes in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Friday night.
