Bates’ O’Connor wins STX/USILA All-America laurels

Ryan O’Connor ’06

LEWISTON, Maine — Bates College senior defenseman Ryan O’Connor is an STX/USILA Honorable Mention All-America selection, the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association has announced.

O’Connor (Avon, Conn.) becomes the third Bates man ever to win All-America honors.

It is the third postseason honor for O’Connor, who is also an All-NESCAC Second Team selection and a Second Team All-New England selection by the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.

O’Connor was an instrumental component of Bates’ stingy defense, which allowed only 7.08 goals per game, the second-lowest rate in the NESCAC. O’Connor led the Bobcats in ground balls with 47.

B.J. Majeski ’06

A second senior defenseman from Bates, B.J. Majeski (Norwalk, Conn.), was chosen to be an alternate in the 65th annual STX/USILA North-South Senior All-Star game, which was played Saturday at Villanova University.

The USILA All-America teams were announced at the All-American Brunch Sunday at the Penn Museum, University of Pennsylvania. The guest speaker at the brunch was New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.
