Wanless ’04 places third in shot put at U.S. Championships

INDIANAPOLIS — Bates College graduate Liz Wanless ’04 finished third in the women’s shot put Sunday at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships.
Competing for the New York Athletic Club, Wanless, the 2004 NCAA Division III indoor and outdoor national champion in the shot put, registered a top performance of 59 feet and 5 inches at the U.S. Championships. She trailed only Jillian Camarena (62-01) and Laura Gerraughty (59-10.25).
Wanless (Gainesville, Fla.) duplicated her place in the 2005 U.S. Championships, where she finished third with a top shot put of 59-6.25.
