Schuler leads Bates golf team at NESCAC Championships
BRUNSWICK, Maine — First-year Kurt Schuler led the Bates College golf team to a ninth-place finish at the 2006 NESCAC Men’s Golf Championship over the weekend at Brunswick Golf Course.
Schuler (Jackson, N.H.) shot a 79 and an 80 for a two-day total of 159, three strokes off of All-NESCAC Team pace.
Junior Jake Cox (Sammamish, Wash.), who earned All-NESCAC honors in 2005, was second among the Bobcats at 170, followed by senior Chris Foster (Scarsdale, N.Y.) with 173, sophomore Jeremy Rogalski (West Springfield, Mass.) with 179 and sophomore Tom Bowden (Falmouth, Maine) with 192.
With an aggregate score of 679, the Bobcats finished ahead of Colby (712) and behind eighth-place Wesleyan (652). Middlebury won the team championship at 618, and Trinity’s Reid Longley was the low individual at 147.
Bates will compete this Friday at the University of Southern Maine Golf Scramble.
