Women’s cross country ninth among Div. 3 teams at Open NE’s
BOSTON — The Bates College women’s cross country team, ranked in a tie for 25th among all New England teams in this week’s NEICAAA poll, finished 23rd out of 46 teams overall and ninth among Division III teams at the Open New England Championships Saturday at Franklin Park.
Bates senior Kathryn Moore (Pelham, N.H.) led the Bobcats over the 5K course with a time of 18:57, good for 67th place out of 314 competitors.
Bates ran nearly the entire race in a pack, with junior Aviva Goldstein (Manchester, N.H.) coming in 122nd in 19:28, junior Molly Balentine (Hampden, Maine) in 134th at 19:32, first-year Esther Kendall (Ridgeway, Ontario) in 139th at 19:35, first-year Abby Samuelson (Freeport, Maine) in 160th at 19:45, and senior Emily Williams (Harvard, Mass.) in 186th at 20:00.
Bates races at the State of Maine Championship next Saturday at Bowdoin.
