Field hockey team falls to Wesleyan, 3-2

LEWISTON, Maine — Wesleyan University junior Adrienne Shea (Andover, Mass.) scored two goals, including the game-winner with 9:45 remaining in the game, as the Cardinals field hockey team defeated host Bates College in a NESCAC contest on Saturday.
Senior Cortney Tetrault (Hatfield, Mass.) also scored for Wesleyan and assisted on the game-winner as Wesleyan (6-5, 3-3 NESCAC) overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit.
Bates senior Megan Petry (Crestwood, Ky.) put the Bobcats (4-5, 1-5 NESCAC) ahead in the first half with an assist from sophomore Abby Childs (Philadelphia, Pa.).
Junior Erin Chandler (Thornton, Pa.) added her second goal of the season, assisted by senior Liz Greenwood (Williamstown, Mass.), to tie the game at 2-2 with 14:39 left in the game.
Senior Caitlin Kelly (Midlothian, Va.) made seven saves for Wesleyan, which out-shot Bates by a 14-10 margin. Senior Sarah Sprague (Cleveland, Ohio) made 10 saves for the Bobcats.
Bates faces Rhodes College of Nashville, Tenn., on Sunday at 12 p.m. in a non-league contest.
