Bates’ Bucci, Munro earn ECAC Player of the Week laurels

LEWISTON, Maine — The weekly honors continued to come for Bates College soccer players Mary Bucci and Rob Munro on Tuesday, as both earned Player of the Week awards from the ECAC.
Bucci (Norfolk, Mass.), a senior forward on the women’s soccer team, was named the ECAC New England Division III Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, a day after earning NESCAC Co-Player of the Week honors, along with Elise McLear of Mount Ida College. Bucci scored both goals in Bates’ 2-1 overtime victory over Tufts in the opening round of the NESCAC Championship on Sunday.
Munro (Walpole, Mass.), a junior goalkeeper on the men’s soccer team, was named ECAC Division III Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, following his standout performance Sunday against Wesleyan. Munro made 10 saves in Bates’ 1-0 double-overtime victory over the Cardinals, and was also named NESCAC Co-Player of the Week on Monday.
