Alexander, Coffin win First Team All-NESCAC honors for a third time

HADLEY, Mass. — Bates College senior forward Kim Alexander and senior sweeper Meg Coffin were each named First Team All-NESCAC in women’s soccer for the third consecutive year on Thursday. They are the only two players with that distinction.
Alexander (Cumberland, Maine), who also won All-NESCAC Second Team honors as a first-year player, was again among the scoring leaders in the New England Small College Athletic Conference, with nine goals and two assists. She tied for fourth in the NESCAC in goals, she ranked second in game-winning goals (four) and was seventh in points per game (1.33). Alexander finishes her career with 38 goals and 16 assists.
Coffin (Westford, Mass.) again anchored Bates’ defense with a rare combination of strength, skill and athleticism. Coffin also notched one goal and one assist, and finishes her soccer career with 14 goals and five assists, all scored as a defender.
Coffin, a standout in basketball and lacrosse who has earned All-America honors in both basketball and soccer, suffered a major knee injury late in the season and missed the Bobcats’ final two games, including their season-ending loss in the NESCAC semifinals against Amherst.
Bates finished the season with a 10-5 record and reached the NESCAC semifinals for the third time in four years.
