Swimming and diving teams impress in battle with Bowdoin

LEWISTON, Maine — Bowdoin College defeated both the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams from Bates College Wednesday night at Tarbell Pool, in the Bobcats’ first home meet of the season. Bowdoin’s men defeated Bates 144-75, while the Polar Bear women were 141-98 victors.
Highlights for the Bates women included sophomore diver Kelsey Lamdin (Brunswick, Maine) winning both the 1- and 3-meter diving events. Lamdin scored 246.30 points in the 1-meter, ahead of first-year teammate Annaliese Rudis (North Andover, Mass.), who scored 225.30 points. Lamdin’s 247.05 points in the 3-meter qualified her to compete in both diving events at the NCAA Division III Championships this season.
First-year Katelyn Drake (Hudson, Ohio) won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:02.66, ahead of Bowdoin’s Kelsey Killmon (1:07.31). Drake has won all five of her backstroke events so far this season.
First-year Esther Kendall (Ridgeway, Ontario) claimed first place in the 100 freestyle, with a time of 59.27 seconds, 0.33 seconds ahead of Bowdoin’s Aurora Kurland.

On the men’s side, junior Dan Perry (Exeter, N.H.) won both diving events, scoring 194.32 points in the 1-meter and 183.53 points.
First-year Taylor Sosnowski (Clifton Park, N.Y.) claimed first place in the 100 freestyle, with a finals time of 50.52 seconds, 0.41 ahead of Bowdoin’s Josh Kimball.
