Bates’ Yanofsky named Maine Rookie of the Week

LEWISTON, Maine — Bates first-year forward Lauren Yanofsky has been named Rookie of the Week by the Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.
Yanofsky (Belmont, Mass.) recorded her first collegiate double-double and career highs in rebounds and assists in the Bates women’s basketball team’s 66-56 win over UMaine-Farmington on Wednesday. She totaled 10 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and two blocks in that game, and added six points and four rebounds Saturday against undefeated Norwich University.
Yanofsky is already a key contributor to the Bobcats (5-3), averaging 8.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.3 steals and a team-high 1.0 blocked shots per game while playing an average of 18.5 minutes.
